Yummy Pies!
My husband has a farm not very far from Peggy Sue’s Steak and Ribs Restaurant. I would venture to say that at least my hubby stops by Peggy Sue’s at least once each weekend. I don’t go to the farm as much as he does…but it is almost tradition to stop.
Peggy is almost always there…and will make you feel right at home. They have a chalk board with the daily specials and a magnetic board with all the pies they have that day. (My favorite is the fresh peach…but it isn’t around very long when it comes!)
Peggy Sue’s Steak and Ribs Restaurant is located at US Highway 36 in New Castle, OH. Don’t blink….there are no stop lights in New Castle…so look for Whimpy out front!

We sampled one of Peggy Sue’s pies – blackberry – on a Kenyon student’s recommendation just this past weekend (August 1). Maybe we got a “lemon,” but it was a real disappointment. It was too sweet, thick to the point of gluey and lacked any real blackberry flavor. My long-time friend and I love fruit pies and like making them when peaches and berries are plentiful. We tried making excuses for the Peggy Sue pie we bought (maybe Ohioans like sweeter desserts than we’re used to) but there’s no way this pie rates any raves.
Really? That is too bad. I don’t get too many of the fruit pies myself…except for fresh peach…and I love that. But the cream pies that I usually get are really good. Thanks for letting me know your experience though. I appreciate honest feedback.
Food was very average at best. My husband and I did not
like their pies. We both had cream pie and it had some
kind of whipped topping versus meringue. Tasted like a
store bought pie. I would not go back.
Thanks for the input Sheila. Personally I like the whipped cream vs meringue myself, but I know many people don’t. We haven’t been back ourselves lately. Prices have gone up and food quality has gone down.
