The Morgan House in Dublin Ohio Review

The Morgan House in Dublin Ohio Review

I have been going to The Morgan House for “girls” lunch for years.

The Morgan House in Dublin Ohio Review

This is one of those fun lunch places that you meet your girlfriends at. You can shop literally for hours on the multi-level gift shops before or after you eat lunch. Heck, you don’t even have to eat lunch (although you’ll be missing out if you don’t).
One of my friends and I sat at one of these tables when my now 22 year old son and her now 22 year old daughter were both in their infant carriers with us and we betrothed them over lunch. LOL My friend’s family is from Sweden and she was telling me how she had been betrothed, and we got talking about it. (no…. they never even dated…but we had fun and we both remember it well).

The Morgan House was started from a dismantled and reassembled log cabin after the Civil War. The log cabin was named after a civil war Verteran John Hunt Morgan. The restaurant that is there now was started in 1985.
I have to admit that I am not very original in what I get for lunch when I go. I almost always get a cup of the Morgan House soup (you acquire the taste for it…yummy) and the daily Quiche.

The shopping is amazing. Many of the things are hand made and on consignment. But they also have Vera Bradley and many name brand vendors to chose from. There is gourmet food, to home decor and clothing available…… Really you just have to see everything. I can’t even imagine having to do the inventory! lol

They only serve lunch (no dinner…no breakfast) so it really feeds into that ladies lunch. But there are men in there, especially on the weekends.
Their lunch hours are as follows:
Mon – Sat, 11am – 3pm
Sunday, 12 noon – 3pm

The Gift Shop:

Weekdays, 10 am – 6 pm
Sat, 10 am – 5 pm
Sun, noon – 5 pm

If you have never been to The Morgan House, you will have to visit. There are several other things in the area to see, a couple other gift shops close by and The Columbus Zoo is just around the corner.

I adore the Morgan House. They certainly have a class act going on there, and I am so glad you reminded me about the cafe. I need to visit again soon.

And, the Morgan House will always hold a special place in my heart – Kendra Heinlin (owner) was my brownie scout leader when I was a little girl and her daughter was a friend throughout grade school. Great people.

  • Thank you for featuring The Morgan House in your Dublin, Ohio web posting today. I, too, love to eat and shop at this unique establishment. There is one error in your story. The log cabin portion of the building was never owned by John Hunt Morgan. Before it was dismantled, it was the home of John and Susanne Weaver. General Morgan raided the home on July 22, 1863. That is the only association Morgan has with the building. For a complete story of this event, see page 266 in the book, The Longest Raid of the Civil War. There is a photo of the Weaver log cabin as it was before dimantling. See page C2 in the same book. Autographed copies of the book are also available for sale in the Morgan House Gift Shop.

  • Thank you for catching that!! I misread the info on their web site. I did change it from “owned by John Morgan” to “named after John Morgan”. I appreciate you letting me know.

  • Oh…that is fun about Kendra. She was very nice when I asked her if she minded me taking pictures in her place.

Years ago, my boss Cindy mentioned The Morgan House to me and said it was a MUST to see. One time when my Mom was staying with me and my sister came to visit, I thought it would be a perfect time to go to The Morgan House. Lunch was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxing, and even though I’m a tea drinker, I always sample their coffee flavor for the day. My sister drives out from Pennsylvania a few times each year – and ever since our first visit to The Morgan House, that is one stop she insists on when she’s here.

  • It is addicting isn’t it? I always get the Morgan House soup. It is a bit of a different taste, but once you have it.. you have to keep getting it.
