The Cottage Salon & Day Spa in New Albany, Ohio Review

The Cottage Salon & Day Spa in New Albany, Ohio Review

Oh how I like the Pampering!

Being treated special is something we all enjoy.  Jane Tysinger opened The Cottage Salon & Day Spa in New Albany almost a year ago.  She had visions of having this cozy cottage where you could come in and instantly feel relaxed, soothed and taken care of.

As soon as you walk in this cottage, it has a warm feel to it.  The colors and decorations are all calm and the colors are soothing.   The stairs lead up to the Spa area and the first floor hosts the hair salon.   There is a huge deck out back that over looks a beautiful walking bridge, it was a little too cold on my visit and Jane has had to bring in her chairs and tables for the winter.

My Pedicure

I have had three visits to the spa.  My first visit was for a pedicure. Oh how I love pedicures… sitting in those nice relaxing chairs, soaking my feet and having my back massaged by the chair.  I have to admit this was a bit of a let down for me.  The Cottage did not have pedi-chairs yet.  (They are arriving this week as I write this and I can’t WAIT to go back and try them out…..!!!!) So my pedicure was done with warm towels wrapped around my feet.  It was also located on the 2nd floor and I had to be very careful walking down the stairs in the flip flops.   I did tell Jane I was a bit disappointed (but loved everything else about her place…so I felt terrible saying anything)  but now with the pedi-chairs…oh yeah…I’ll have to check them out for sure!! Jane also hopes to acquire the small house behind The Cottage and expand her Spa there so it will be on the first floor.  So if you have trouble climbing stairs, then the spa will be a bit of a problem for you at this time.

My Spray Tan

I had a spray tan for the first time.  I have had people tell me they don’t like them because they stand in a booth and are sprayed automatically and get it in their face etc.  Well not here! Anita is a spray tan specialist.  She has it down too!  I didn’t have lines or streaks at all.  I went up and there is an area in the back of the spa that is curtained off for the tanning.  Jane plans to fancy it up….but there really is no need.  I could chose what I wanted to wear or not wear… and then I went into an open black closet. She gave me step by step instructions of how to turn, when to lift my arms. How she would spray my face without getting it in my eyes (very simple by the way…and fast) and exactly what I should do.  She was also telling me about what she used on me and how to take care of my tan.  I purchased a package of tans…

My Facial

My facial was my last visit…and my favorite.  Cheryl was wonderful..in the dark purple room,  with the candles and soft music.  I had an hour long facial which included the steam to my face (was so nice )… she also massaged my face, neck and shoulders.  Now get this… I also got a hand and foot massage! Oh I loved that! My face felt wonderful when I left. I wish I could do one of those every week!  But Cheryl was very helpful in explaining what she was doing, what she was using and not saying too much….just letting me enjoy the quiet and relaxing massage and facial I received.

There is a full hair and color (the whole first floor!!) and several stylist.  I have not had my hair done there (I have someone who knows my cut and I color my own hair that I have gone to for years)…but I know Jane does a fabulous job and she is very concerned with the quality of her salon. So I know she wouldn’t have anyone work there that wasn’t up to the high standards that she is.

Thoughts

You need to visit!  Check it out.  You will be pleased!  Her prices are very comparable and for the area she is in…I’m sure a bargain. The Cottage is located in central New Albany.  It is easy to get to and easy to find.

Disclosure: I was not compensated by Jane for this post. I had won a gift certificate and wanted to have it applied to The Cottage Salon  & Day Spa..and I received the services from that gift certificate.   The pictures (other than 2 of them that I have permission to use) and video and thoughts are my own.
