Great Food & Music by Cliff Cody!
I recently had the privilege of being able to do a review of the Hoggy’s Restaurant New Albany, that is located in Gahanna, Ohio. There are several locations that you can find on Hoggys.com/locations
I’ve been before and was looking forward to it. I was told (which I didn’t know) that on Thursday nights they have live music. So that was all the better! THEN…. they told me it was going to be a country singer named Cliff Cody! I started laughing and said, “I know him!” (feeling like Elf in the movie.. “Santa? I KNOW him!” lol)
I ventured out on my own (hubby couldn’t make it with me that night) and had a wonderful time. Hoggy’s is designed like a large white barn. Inside the decor is barn, country, tractors, things that you might find in a country farm house.
There is a pub you can go into if you would like. It is separate from the dining room, which is nice.
I was seated in a booth that I could see Cliff easily, which was nice. The weather wasn’t so great that night, so there wasn’t a real big crowd. My server was really surprised. She said usually it is busy, especially on a Thursday night.

The food was amazing! The menu has everything I would want on it.
My waitress was a hoot! She and the girl she was training did a great job.
This was my meal. Wow…. looks great doesn’t it? Is your mouth watering yet? Oh.. just wait until you see the dessert!
They start you off with corn bread muffins with a sweet butter. These are really good. The thing with Hoggy’s is you know you are going to get so much food, you have to be really careful with the muffins or appetizers. Go easy on them, or you will never be able to eat your meal!
Pulled pork. It is my favorite. You can add other sauce if you’d like to spice up the taste. I’m not a big spicy person, and it has all the sauce you could want on it, but you can Doctor it up more if you’d like.
Their Award winning mac ‘n cheese. This is so creamy. It almost looks white. Very good.
I also go a vegetable Kobob. Wow… I loved all the colors of my meal too!
I have been to several events that have been catered by Hoggy’s. I think there was at least one wedding, and then several graduation parties and someone had a big outdoor bon fire party one time. Really makes a good meal for something like that. Just good home cooked food.
I got to Hoggy’s around 6:45 I think. I knew Cliff was singing at 7pm that night.
I have never had dessert at Hoggy’s. Let me tell you why. Because we have always been way too full to think about it. Hoggy’s really don’t need a huge dessert menu because I bet not that many people order it.
But…. my server talked me into trying it. (I needed a doggy bag box to take the rest of my meal home. I wanted to try one of these desserts she was telling me about. I thought I would “take one for the team” since I was doing a review and all, just so I could tell you about it! lol
I didn’t know what to try! They all looked great. I was pretty much between the Red Velvet and the Triplet Chocolate, but that Ho-Ho cake sounded really good.
I decided to try the Red Velvet Cake. It said it is Award-winning and soon to be their signature dessert, so I wanted to see what all the fuss was about with a piece of Red Velvet cake.
OMG…
There were little chocolate chips… to die for creamy moist red velvet cake, great frosting, along with whip cream and chocolate sauce. Here is another picture…. I think I took like 10 pictures just of this cake! lol
As you heard on my video the whole time I’m eating, I was getting to hear Cliff sing. It was great. The music was a nice combination. It wasn’t too loud that you wouldn’t have been able to talk to the person you came with, but it was loud enough to hear.
If you would like to hear live music, make sure to go on Thursday nights between 7-10pm. It would be a great place to go to for just dessert and coffee also (and some music)
The atmosphere is comfortable and friendly. You’d feel comfortable in jeans and a sweatshirt, but if you had been to an event and were dressed up, you wouldn’t be out of place. I love those kind of places. I am most comfortable in jeans and I like being able to go in a restaurant and not stress about what I’m wearing.
